In 2014, AOE deployed a small-scale pWEC (Prototype 001) in the Sooke Basin on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. The objective of the test was to demonstrate the ability of the pWEC to compress air under real world conditions. A single pWEC was deployed (approximately 1.5 m diameter) and waves were artificially created by a boat. The production cylinder was connected to a series of valves and instruments to measure the compression of the air generated by the pWEC. Results showed that the pWEC generated compressed air at approximately 8 psi. This represented a great success for the development of the pWEC.
